Firethorn
Farm...expect the best
Firethorn
Farm, established in 1979, is located on 180 acres in the beautiful,
rolling hills of Southwestern Pennsylvania. We raise White Dorper sheep and have a small herd of retired llamas. Our goal
has always been to produce healthy, hardy, productive animals.
Health is a priority for us.
Our White Dorper sheep are in the Voluntary Scrapie Flock
Certification Program and have tested negative for CL, CAE, OPP and
Johne's. We maintain a closed ewe flock and occasionally introduce a new ram.
Our dogs
are an integral part of our farm and our lives. Our livestock
guard dogs protect our livestock while our Border Collies manage
them. Our dogs also give us endless hours of enjoyment and companionship.
Our Canada
goose management business, www.wildgoosechase.biz
allows us to work with our dogs at our sides.
What more could we
ask?
The year 2002 brought
changes to our farm. We decided to get down to business and reduce production costs and increase profits. After considerable research, we dispersed our flock of Border Leicesters and replaced them
with White Dorpers. We are very happy with the
results. Check out our White Dorper page for more information
about these incredible sheep.
We specialize
in first time buyers. So if you just purchased your farm and you
are trying to make some important decisions...give us a call.
We will be glad to assist you.
